I have owned the grinder for over a year now and it has performed well. When I started to have issues, I contacted Baratza (with in the 1 year warrenty) and they shipped me a new one, free of charge and shipping. The new one is performing better than the previous one. I highly recommend the grinder due to the even, consistant grind, quiet operation, and the company stands behind the product.

All I can say is that it arrived well packed and in a very timely fashion but I cannot write a review as it is a birthday gift for my daughter and she has not received it due to illness. I did not want to send it to her threw the mail so she will receive it on Thanksgiving when she comes to visit. I gave it the rating I did on the basis of mine which is the same but older.

Customer Review: Grinds nicely, but takes some time.
Takes quite a while to grind when your jones'ing for some good coffee. I cheat and chuck it in my cordless drill. It's work but I grind a lot faster. The adjustment is basically a screw on the bottom side (the middle one). Make sure you open the grinds resevoiur over your sink or outside cause it can make a mess.

Customer Review: Doesn't grind -- it powders!
If you like the bitter off-taste that comes from overextraction, then this is the coffee grinder for you. Even the coarsest setting grinds the coffee much, much too fine for good clean flavor. To get a decent grind requires pulling the plug before the grinder times out -- which obviously defeats the purpose of the custom settings. I give two stars instead of one because if you ignore the custom settings and time the grind process yourself it works OK.
Customer Review: Smaller than you'd think
This coffee grinder works as well as other small coffee grinders I've used, and for about the same price you get multiple settings for different amounts and fineness of grind, and a retractable cord, all of which work very well. So clearly it is a good buy. Yet I have two complaints: 1. Since it has an automatic shutoff, it would be better if you didn't need to keep the start button depressed during grinding. 2. Okay, I like my coffee strong, but if this grinds 15 cups they are 15 very small and weak cups. More like three to five cups. It is very close in capacity to other small grinders.

Customer Review: Breaks - Spend Your Money Elsewhere!
The Cuisinart coffee grinder model DCG-20N is a waste of good money. The plastic holding the blade starts breaking after little more than a week's use (low intensity use at that - just once a day), and if you don't want to / cannot afford to spend money on a new grinder, you have to check and clean the ground coffee / spices of the broken plastic pieces. What's more, in a matter of a week or two more, this plastic disc is so badly broken that the blades collapse and the grinder becomes unusable. I gave it the benefit of doubt (partly because it was the only brand that the local grocery store kept) the first time this happened and bought it a second time and in a different color, after a gap of over a year just in case it was something to do with the batch.....and it happened again, in exactly the same way! And this in spite of the fact that I took really really good care to always follow the instructions in the manual! This is a very very very substandard product. I feel cheated of my hard-earned money, and am never going to buy a Cuisinart product ever again.

Cuisinart. You think Cuisinart and you think "quality product," right? Think again, at least on this count. I have a lovely Cuisinart coffee maker and pots-and-pans set, as well as their wonderful fodd processor that has been chugging along for years. But this grinder really surprised me. The grinds were really uneven, some chunks being nearly whole beans, others ground within an inch of their molecular structure. And when I used it the second day, a few stray grinds came spewing out the side of the thing -- the seal wasn't tight if there were any leftover grinds from the last time. It feels chintzy and cheap, and I am promptly returning it. Bummer -- I thought Cuisinart made quality a priority.

Customer Review: An outstanding coffee grinder
Burr-ground coffee tastes better. This is one magnificent gleaming bull of a grinder. Espresso may be a delight but it's over too soon for me, so I can't pronounce on the fine end, but the Kitchenaid's coarse settings yield French press coffee without mud; one click finer feeds my moka pot (Bialetti Moka Express 6-Cup Stovetop Percolator which fills one mug); the mid to fine range produces perfect drip in a plastic cone (e.g. Manual Drip Coffee Filter Cone). Other Kitchenaid small electrics have given me good service for a generation. And what's more, the thirty seconds I don't have to stand there holding the button down delight me.
Customer Review: Don't forget the MOST important criteria: the TASTE!
I have read some very detailed and well written reviews of this burr grinder. I haven't read them all, but the ones I have reviewed leave out the most important criteria - the TASTE of the ground beans. I gave this grinder to my son for Christmas, and I have been using it for a few days while he travels. My son, a barista in his own right, who introduce me to coffee, has taught me all the important aspects of making great coffee. I always grind my beans just before I brew the coffee in a French press (excuse my French). I keep the beans in a vacuum keeper. I brew at 190 degrees, F (I don't do metric). On my first cup from this grinder I suspected something, that I have now confirmed. This grinder does not burn the beans. I had come to believe that the burned and acrid taste was simply part of the coffee experience. Not so, it was part of the burned bean experience imparted by all my blade grinders, and both of my burr grinders. This grinder runs at a lower speed (see the Kitchenaid propaganda), and OH, what a sweet difference slower grinding makes! The coffee is not bitter, the "other" flavor is gone, and I am now tasting the bean as God intended it to be tasted. As for other lesser important criteria, this is much less noisy than all my other grinders, it does not spew grinds out the side onto the countertop as my present (soon to be replaced by this Kitchenaid) grinder does, it is much faster than any other grinder I have owned. It does not have markings for how many cups you have ground, but you get used to that in a few grinds. It is larger than any others I have owned, but how important to you is great coffee? And Kitchenaid's Customer Service is top notch! Spend an "extra" $50 for this grinder, and you will never need another one.
